About the Role
The Odoo Developer role focuses on developing and maintaining the company’s Odoo 18 ERP environment, which supports internal business operations such as employee management, onboarding, invoicing, accounting, and reporting. The position involves close collaboration with backend, HR, and finance stakeholders while taking end-to-end ownership of custom Odoo modules and integrations with the company’s Spring Boot and GraphQL backend systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain custom Odoo modules for employee management and accounting
- Manage module development from data modeling and business logic to testing and deployment
- Handle integrations between Odoo and the Spring Boot backend using XML-RPC and JSON-RPC
- Ensure reliable data flow, consistency, error handling, and retry logic across systems
- Translate HR and accounting requirements into scalable Odoo models and ORM implementations
- Refactor existing modules and support Odoo version upgrades
- Maintain long-term ERP maintainability and system quality
- Support junior team members through code reviews and pair programming
- Collaborate with backend, HR, and finance stakeholders to prioritize ERP development tasks
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in Odoo development
- Experience working with productive custom Odoo modules, ideally in Odoo 18
- Strong knowledge of Python and the Odoo ORM
- Experience with XML views, QWeb templates, OWL framework, and Odoo security concepts
- Solid PostgreSQL knowledge and understanding of ORM vs. direct SQL usage
- Experience with Odoo integrations via XML-RPC, JSON-RPC, or external APIs
- Ability to independently own modules end-to-end and explain architectural trade-offs
- Excellent German and English communication skills, both written and spoken
Nice to Have
- Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries
- Contributions to the Odoo Community Association (OCA) or published Odoo modules
- Experience with Odoo.sh, Docker-based Odoo environments, or CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with German accounting standards, DATEV integration, GoBD, or German VAT processes
